REPORTING INFORMATION / INCLEMENT WEATHER / EMERGENCY CLOSING

If you have received a summons for jury service, please check your summons to see if you have been selected for Trial (Petit) Jury Service or Grand Jury Service. Please remember to bring your JURY SUMMONS and PHOTO IDENTIFICATION each time you are to appear.

TRIAL (PETIT) JURORS:

Trial (Petit) jurors are on call for a term of five (5) days (Monday through Friday). You may be required to report on any given day during that term. To determine your reporting status, please call the recorded message 410-386-2939 or 410-875-0619 after 5:00 p.m., each evening prior to your term dates to see if you must appear for jury service the next day. The usual reporting time is 8:30 a.m., BUT the reporting time is always subject to change. The recording will indicate exactly where and what time to report.

The Circuit Court for Carroll County utilizes two (2) buildings - the Historic Courthouse and the Courthouse Annex. The courthouses are across the street from one another. There is a possibility of having to walk/travel the short distance between the two. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.

In case of inclement weather or emergency closing:

Trial (Petit) jurors should call 410-386-2939 after 6:30 a.m. the morning you are to report for jury service to see if the reporting time has changed.

If the message is the same as the night before, then report as directed. PLEASE NOTE that public announcements pertaining to the Carroll County Government does not mean the Circuit Court. We are identified as the Carroll County Circuit/Juvenile Court.

GRAND JURORS:

Grand jurors serve a term of six (6) months, meeting every other Thursday. The grand jury terms usually begin in May and November; however, the terms are subject to change upon order. Orientation will be held on the date and time listed on your summons. You will receive a list of future session dates at orientation.

If you are selected as a final grand juror, each successive meeting day, grand jurors should call 410-386-2240 the night before each session to confirm the grand jury is still meeting.
